NSU dominated by Nicholls on Senior Day
By Raymond A. Partsch IIINATCHITOCHES Northwestern State reverted to its old form in Saturday's "Jintropin (Gensci Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.)" home finale against Nicholls State.
NSU (5 5, 4 2) looked nothing like the team that had pulled off four straight Southland Conference wins and placed themselves in contention for a conference title.
NSU's struggles were apparent early on "Anabolika Definition" as the Demons first drive stalled after accumulating just 38 yards. In last week's 35 16 win over Southeastern Louisiana, the Demons scored touchdowns on their first three drives.
NSU was forced to punt and Nicholls (3 7, 2 4) quickly took the lead with a five play, 80 yard drive. Nicholls quarterback LaQuint Caston capped the drive by going untouched on a 39 yard touchdown run.
On NSU's following drive, Nicholls defensive back Masteron Female Dosage Jordan Hanberry, who had nearly picked off NSU quarterback Paul Harris on Kuracja Z Deca Durabolin the preceding drive, intercepted Harris and returned the ball 22 yards to the two yard line. "Anadrol 50" A few plays later, Caston dove in for a two yard touchdown.
Nicholls went up 21 0 early in the second quarter after Caston went untouched again "Oxandrolone Powder India" on 22 yard touchdown run. The Colonels dual threat quarterback caused fits for the Demons defense as he rushed for 134 yards on 18 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns in the victory. He also completed 7 of 11 passes for 79 Oral Steroids Risks yards and a touchdown.
"When you have an athlete like that at quarterback you can cause problems for defenses," Nicholls coach Charlie Stubbs said.
"This was out first time seeing a wildcat quarterback like that," NSU senior defensive lineman Ledell Love said. "I think it overwhelmed us early on but we "Achat Anabolisant Belgique" should have been able to adjust. They outplayed us."
As good as Caston was, Nicholls defense was even better.
The Colonels frustrated Demon quarterbacks with pressure and recorded four interceptions and a safety.
Harris completed 8 of 22 passes for 117 yards and threw two interceptions before he was replaced by senior Tyler Wolfe, who did not fare any better. Wolfe completed 8 of 20 passes for 78 yards and two interceptions.
"We wanted to get pressure on their quarterback," said Nicholls' Hanberry. "Our defensive line got to them to make bad throws."
Nicholls also shut down NSU's rushing attack. The Demons were held to 59 yards rushing for an average of 2.7 yards a carry. NSU was forced to punt six times, intercepted four times, suffered a safety and turned the ball over on downs twice.
"We just couldn't get in a rhythm," said NSU tight end Justin Alredge, who led the Demons in receiving with three catches for 37 yards.
Despite the defeat, NSU still has an outside shot of winning the SLC title and earning a playoff berth. NSU must defeat Stephen F. Austin next week and hope Central Arkansas defeats McNeese State.
